How Love And The Prophetic Spark Revival
One of the most beautiful parts of Christianity is that we get to connect to God’s inner most thoughts and really know what is on his mind. “These are the things God has revealed to us by his Spirit. The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God. For who knows a person’s thoughts except their own spirit within them? In the same way no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God. What we have received is not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, so that we may understand what God has freely given us” (1 Corinthians 2:10−12).
The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God.
The last verse in that chapter even goes so far as to say that we now have the mind of Christ, implying not only do we hear from him, but we can think and process with his level of thinking (v.16). This is amazing, because while many religions go after enlightenment through some ritualistic process, we get to freely access God’s higher mind through his Spirit. We get to know what he is thinking right now and what his original thoughts over each human were. We get to not just feel human compassion and empathy, but through the Spirit of God, we can feel his desire for humanity in the first place. We, of course, have defined his desire for us through prophetic gifts, but prophetic gifts are relational gifts. They are the gifts that allow us to see people, and the world, at the end of the race—with trophies in their hands—instead of limiting them to who or what they are now.
Hearing God causes a faith bridge between what is and what he wants. It creates faith in us that the government of Jesus, which has no end, is increasing on the earth. We fall in love even more with what he cares about because we’ve read it in the Word, but then we also experience his heart. Before the prophetic is even a giftset, it is a way of communing with God. It is a culture of the heart that sees what he is doing before we care about what humanity is not doing or what the enemy is trying to do. To know what God is doing and to bring agreement, and speak into this, is one of the most beautiful processes you will ever find yourself engaged in.
Revival is not just a movement of ideas or a spiritual encounter. Revival is when we see what the Father had originally intended transforming the earth. Jesus paid the highest price to restore us to God’s dream and vision, and the prophetic helps us to fellowship with his mind and heart so we can learn, in our generation, how to bring about his plans and dream. Restoring his original design to the earth was not Jesus’s only mission—through his resurrection, he released heaven’s empowerment to all of us so we could play our part in this restoration. The prophetic helps us to see God’s design and its implementation come to pass—by giving heavenly wisdom, strategy, and ingenuity.
There were times of revival throughout history where this happened. It was always marked by a person or people who heard God and who began to dream God’s dream with him. They were the people who would see what needed to change, or what God was offering, and then bridge the gap of faith and humanity—through relationship with the Holy Spirit—to bring it about.
This is what God wants to do through you. He wants to share his innermost thoughts with you about your life and the world around you. He wants to speak through you to this generation in ways that cause course correction and course changes for families, industries, and even nations.
The more we grow in our ability to hear his voice, the more we grow in our ability to love, and this is the catalyst for revival. I love how The Message Bible says: “Go after love like your life depended on it (1 Corinthians 14:1 MSG), and the NIV translates it as, “eagerly desire gifts of the Spirit, especially prophecy.” Paul tied love and the gifts together, because the spiritual gifts were given to create an atmosphere where God’s love for humanity and his intention could be fully realized.
This is what you get to do! Pursue God’s heart, mind, and will, expecting to hear from him for the world around you! This will cause revival moments and revival lifestyle, and history will be made.
