Setting your heart on the love of Heavenly Father.

“Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above...” (Colossians 3:1 NIV)

As a child of God you have been made whole. You are not lacking what you need to fully satisfy the desire in your heart for love. Your desire to be loved can be and already is met by Jesus. Our Father is not interested in only what you can do for Him; rather, He desires and craves our hearts response to His love. Jesus was a man who lived in connection with the heart of His Father. The way we choose to respond to His love determines how we will receive His love. The response of your heart will be reflected in your actions. How open are you with those around you?

Are you open to setting your heart on things above—receive the love of your heavenly Father? Or are you closed to Him? God cannot fully reveal Himself to you if your heart is telling Him to step away. You can limit how you receive His love if you decide to close your heart. However, in His grace and mercy He does not give up on us. Even as we say no, He does not change, nor does His passion for you leave His heart. He continually gazes upon His children with delight and joy.

To live in connection with His heart begins with the response of your heart. Our hearts response to His heart can either be “Yes, I receive your love” or “No, I do not want your love.” God is not one to push you into being His daughter or son. He is not controlling. Therefore, if you decide to say no, He will honor your decision and with His heart wide open for you, He will wait patiently for you. God desires passionate lovers who do not simply submit to Him out of obligation. He wants our hearts to connect with what is above.

God wants to make Himself real to you so He is not just a distant thought. Why not focus on things above—His love—and invite Him to come closer to you today?
