Devotional | Made in His Image
“For You formed my inward parts;
You wove me in my mother’s womb.
I will give thanks to You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
Wonderful are Your works,
And my soul knows it very well.
My frame was not hidden from You,
When I was made in secret,
And skillfully wrought in the depths of the earth;
Your eyes have seen my unformed substance;
And in Your book were all written
The days that were ordained for me,
When as yet there was not one of them.”
Psalm 139:13-16 NAS
God exists in uniqueness. Nothing like Him, incomparable, uncontainable and infinite. We humans, His most beautiful act of creation, were made in His image, in uniqueness.
Have you ever considered that in all of this vast earth there is no one just like you? No one carries your fingerprints, no one has your eyes, your voice. No one smiles the way you do, laughs the way that you do. You were shaped by your heavenly Father with intent and purpose, He had a great plan when you came to His mind.
Let us consider then, that in our unique identity lies a unique experience. As an individual marked by distinct characteristics, we each see God through a lense like no other. Our experiences, hopes, dreams all shape the way we see our heavenly Father and no one else will experience Him quite the way we do. Though we, as a body, share many common activities in our spiritual pursuit of Him, we each see through a single perspective, a shining face on a multifaceted jewel.
Let us except the challenge that as a unique individual, we are called to a unique expression. As a creature made in His image, you exist as a creation of perfect intent without mistake. Your experience of your creator stands alone without equal. So let us realize that we each have a voice and something to say, some revelation of God’s character to shout about. You have a voice. What does it say? How does it lead the world in worship?
