What is God's opinion on our money?
Have you ever asked God for His opinion on finances? God is interested in being part of our lives, if we were created to live in unity with Him we can therefore trust that He wants to be apart of our finances as well. For some the topic of money may cause them to cringe based on how they personally perceive money. However, God is interested in changing our view on finances and reveal to our hearts a Godly perspective.
This week was focused on the Biblical and practical perspective on finances. What is the importance of good stewardship? Good stewardship increases our stability and prepares our lives to fulfill what we truly value.
The common phrase we often hear when the discussion of money is mentioned within the church is “you reap what you sow”. This statement is true, however, there is more to it than what we may know. When we sow into the kingdom we can trust in His provision. Provision is our inheritance. God promises to fulfill our needs with even more than what we need. Just as Jesus Himself states, “Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.” (Luke 6:38 NIV)
God, however, has given us each a choice. He has chosen to trust us to do what we want with the money we receive. His word clearly encourages us to give tithes and offerings yet, it is not an obligation. God is interested in the state of our heart, when we give where are we giving from? Our hearts are to be giving from the right place if we hope to see the reaping. It is God’s heart and desire for us to be cheerful givers. To be people who do not hesitate to give out as we ourselves receive. Giving to me should simply be seen as an opportunity to bless our Father’s heart. By blessing another we have the opportunity to grab a hold of our Father’s hand and partner with Him to advance His kingdom.
A giving heart gives permission for God to move in our lives. When we give with an open heart, and open hands we are positioning ourselves to receive. If we lay down a willing sacrifice God acknowledges our hunger for the more that He calls s to seek after. We can therefore grab ahold of His hand and walk with Him in advancing His Kingdom within every area of our lives, including finances.
Why not choose to demonstrate who He is by giving abundantly not for the benefit of ourselves but to advance His kingdom while trusting in His gracious heart to provide for all our needs?
