Advance 5 | Unraveled Beauty
The Old Testament leads you on a journey of discovering the heart of the Father. Although, the Old Testament contains historical information that at times can leave you feeling overwhelmed; in a greater perspective it presents to us a picture of a Father chasing after His children. Not once has there been a time when He has given up on His people. He has continually desired to be loved with the same love He has lavished upon us. In other words we were made for love, and to be loved since the beginning revealing to us the heart of our Father.
"The Bible allows us to discover the hidden mysteries of His Heart as we seek diligently when in partnership with Holy Spirit."
This week we were taken through the thirty nine books of the Old Testament and studied in more detail specific sections. I was curious to discover what Holy Spirit wanted to reveal to me within the next two days. My mind was filled with piles of information as Gordon Harris spoke on the various facts held throughout the certain books we discussed. However, it was not my desire to simple recieve head knowledge, I wanted the words I read and heard to become a reality within my heart.
Recently I have had an increasing hunger for His word. With excitement I have been searching the scripture longing to discover more of who He is. The Bible allows us to discover the hidden mysteries of His Heart as we seek diligently when in partnership with Holy Spirit. Before I read I personally enjoy listening to Holy Spirit, as He speaks willingly to my heart. I listen to where it is He is leading me, and as I read my spirit leaps with joy when I begin to receive new revelation.
"There is always more to discover."
This week reminded me to not neglect the Old Testament. I can admit that I have been someone who would primarily be drawn to the New Testament when having a Bible Study or whatever it may be. In the past the Old Testament became somewhat of an intimidation for me to read. I lacked motivation since I was unaware of the importance and insight the Old Testament offers. Therefore, I pushed aside searching for myself what the Old Testament had to reveal, I became satisfied with what I was told as a child by my parents and Sunday school teachers.
"We have only tasted and experienced a glimpse of who God is and what He has to offer."
However, while listening to the stories shared within the two days of this week, and Holy Spirit revealing to me the importance of searching the scripture in order to continually prepare my heart, I realized the “food” I can be feed with while reading the Old Testament. The beauty and awe of who God is, is unraveled and are you captivated. The prophets and other individuals within the Old Testament, as well bring inspiration to your spirit which personally encourages me to press in deeper; knowing that there is always more to discover. He is a glorious God.
"I want to refrain from complicity, and rather live with an increasing passion."
We have only tasted and experienced a glimpse of who God is and what He has to offer. My desire is to live and receive the fullness of what I am capable of reaching and discovering who He is while here on earth. This week I challenged myself to remember to live from a place of adoration and awe in response to who He is. I want to refrain from complicity, and rather live with an increasing passion as I daily seek Him and discover even more of His beauty. Why not ask yourself this week how can you refrain from complicity to allow your hunger for HIm to increase daily.
