I Give You Authority: Practicing the Authority Jesus Gave Us

Revised Edition March 2012 - Chosen books

If an anonymous philanthropist decided to deposit a million dollars into your account, how quickly would you run to the bank to make a withdrawal?

Charles H. Kraft, the author of I Give You Authority: Practicing the Authority Jesus Gave Us, suggests that not using God’s gift of authority, which is entrusted to all believers, is similar to not realizing that we have a million dollars in our bank.

Charles Kraft bases his book on John 20:21 “As the Father has sent me, I am sending you” (NIV). Kraft emphasizes that the same powerful authority Jesus showed through healing, blessing and casting out demons has been entrusted to us so that we may fulfill God’s calling. In each chapter, Kraft stresses that we can use God’s authority in our family, ministry, finances and all aspects of our lives.

Kraft believes that “the way we interpret scripture (and all else that goes on) is pervasively influenced by experience”. He demonstrates that power of authority can only be possible through a relationship with Jesus Christ. Kraft expresses his wisdom through his own personal experiences supported by biblical references.

Although the length of Kraft’s book may seem easy to consume, it may be too ambitious to do so within a mere fortnight. Kraft encourages that we apply his teachings chapter by chapter; it is more beneficial to slowly digest his discourse by practicing our newfound authority in God as we learn. Kraft has a strong desire to cultivate his readers so that all may grow in God’s wisdom.

Lets use the authority God has given us through his Holy Spirit. It’s finally time to make a withdrawal from our inheritance.
