Devotional | The Lifter of Our Heads
“But You, O Lord, are a shield about me, My glory and the One who lifts my head.” (Psalm 3:3 NASB)
Are we letting our circumstance steal from God's worship?
This verse has been massive for me in my understanding of how to come to God. It's written by David, the great Psalmist, in the midst of aparrent defeat when the promises of God seemed a million miles away.
Two huge worship killers are shame and fear. They steal our passion and subdue us to looking down at our feet, wondering where God is, and how we will make it through the week. But our Heavenly Father is the lifter of our heads. As a parent lifts the head of a shamed child and restores them, so we are restored and are free to get lost in the beauty of our Creator God.
Whatever your circumstances are today, challenge yourself to let God lift up your head and move your focus off your situations and onto him.
