God's healing touch takes John out of a wheelchair and reveals to him a new identity as a son.

My name is John Omiecinski. In 1992, I was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis after years of failing health.

Over the next few years, it became almost impossible to walk. If I wanted to go anywhere, I had to use canes, crutches, or a wheelchair, which made me less and less willing to let others see me in that condition.

I didn’t want people around, and I began to force my family and friends away from me. I quit going to church, and I was starting to give up on even being alive. I became more depressed when I was put out of work on disability in 1998. I would stay in the house and sleep to the point that my marriage began to suffer.

In March of 2004, my wife got me to go on a cruise. I did not want to go partly because I hated people to see me in a wheelchair. I ended up having a good time, however, and thought I would like to go again.

After the cruise, in April my wife’s friends told us about a Christian cruise. So, when my wife asked me, I agreed to go.

In July of 2004, my wife and I came up to Toronto to The Party is Here Conference to see what TACF was all about, since we were going on a TACF cruise. It freaked me out at first, and I wasn’t sure what we were getting into.

However, when we got home, I began to get some hope.

We went down to Florida two days before the 2005 cruise. When we got to the airport in Cleveland, we realized that I didn’t have my wheelchair and its equipment or my pillow.

On Saturday, February 26, 2005, we got on the ship with me in a wheelchair. On Monday, I tried to go on the crusade in San Juan but felt hindered in my chair so I went back on board the ship. At the crusade, my wife met Paige who was on the healing ministry team. When everyone all came back aboard ship, I was waiting at the buffet entrance where my wife introduced me to Paige who began to pray for me. I don’t know how many other people were praying, but I felt many hands on me.

When I awoke Tuesday morning, I got up and felt 400 pounds lighter. I started walking around the ship with my cane. I went to the beach that day with everyone, this time without a wheelchair, and I walked in the water for the first time since my illness began. PRAISE GOD, it was a great feeling! Our friends could not believe it and kept saying, “Look! John is in the water!” I could not do that the year before.

I have been walking ever since with no canes, crutches, or wheelchair.

I couldn’t walk the length of a football field before. Now I can walk up to 5 miles a day, and I am feeling better and better everyday.

Two days after the cruise, I went to my neurologist. She was surprised that I could walk heel to toe without falling. I could not do that before. We told her that it was the healing power of the Lord.

I not only have my life back but my wife as well. I am back in church and doing outreach ministry testifying about my healing. People that know me who haven’t seen me for a while see the change in me physically and mentally and ask me what happened. I tell them about the power of God. Some listen and others walk away because they don’t want to hear; but that doesn’t stop me, though. Everyday I thank and praise the Lord.
